Rev. Peter Kaimathiri, Pastor to Kenyan Mission
Rev.
Peter Kaimathiri M'Tuamwari came to Marietta in December 2003 to serve
as a missionary to the Kenyan and East African immigrant and student
population in the United States. He came from the Methodist Church in
Kenya where he served as a church minister in various capacities and
also served on the Conference Committee for many years. He was very
instrumental there in mission and evangelism work in Kenya, Uganda and
Tanzania. While studying at Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky,
Peter became aware of the large Kenyan population in America in need of
spiritual nurturing, and on his return to Kenya, created an awareness
with church officials of the need for a minister to serve as missionary
to the Kenyan community in the U.S. In response, Peter was posted to the
U.S. as a missionary and thus the "Feed My Flock" ministry was born.
In September 2005, he was officially
assigned to the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church,
and has established his ministry base here as a staff member of East
Cobb UMC.
Peter
has trained as a minister in St. Paul’s United Theological Seminary, and
Asbury Seminary where he earned two MA's, in Theological Studies and
World Mission & Evangelism. Peter is currently studying for an MA in
African Studies and doctorate in Biblical Counseling.
Peter lives in Marietta with his
wife Priscilla and his three children. He leads the Kenyan worship and
Bible study fellowship on alternating Sundays of each month, at 3pm in the
East Cobb UMC sanctuary.
