Share the Gift of Love this Valentine’s Day
The Lenten season traditionally begins on Ash Wednesday as we mark the journey of contemplation and fasting. This Lent, we are inviting our congregation to engage in an intentional season of mission and service.
To kick it off, we are hosting a meal packing event with Rise Against Hunger on Ash Wednesday, February 14. Sign up today to help us pack over 10,000 meals. Hour long shifts are available from 3-6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The event will culminate with an Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. including the imposition of ashes. Call & Response
New Sermon Series
The journey of faith is both individual and communal – a personal journey that is integrally connected with our fellow disciples. One of the ways we engage our faith together is through worship. Worship is a participatory event, dependent upon all who are present to participate. Over the next two weeks, we will explore this participatory element of worship as we issue a call to our congregation and respond accordingly. Join us for “Call and Response” February 4 and 11 at 11:15 a.m. in person and online!
Be the Sheep
Lenten Sermon Series
In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims to his disciples the metrics by which we are to be judged by God. As he shares, the King will separate the sheep from the goats, designating each according to the ways they engaged and served the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the imprisoned. It is the sheep who will inherit the Kingdom of God for when they served the least of these, they served the Savior.
This Lenten season, we will explore each of these areas of service through both scripture study and hands-on mission experiences in worship. Join us each Sunday in Lent as we discern the call of Jesus to, “Be the Sheep.” Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 14 and concludes with Easter Sunday on March 31.
Souper Bowl Sunday
Sunday, February 11 // After Service
Our Souper Bowl Sunday luncheon is fast approaching! Bring a crock pot of soup (warmed up) to the Fellowship Hall and after the service we will try each other’s soups and enjoy fellowship with one another. Sign up using the button below or by contacting Rev. Joe Palmer. This will help us get a count so we have the right amount of supplies, and if you share with us what kind of soup you are bringing, we can help ensure a variety of types of soup. Drinks will be provided!

Bible Sunday
Sunday, March 24
It is tradition in our church to gift the 3rd graders a new Bible to mark a transition in their faith journey. As their reading levels increase, they move from a storybook bible to a full translation of our holy scriptures. This year, we will celebrate Bible Sunday on March 24. In addition to our 3rd graders, we will also gift our rising Confirmands with a new Bible that they will use for their confirmation journey. Following worship, we will host a special “Bible Retreat,” to help us all engage in a more meaningful way with our bibles. Save the Date now, and registration will begin March 1. If you have a child in 3rd grade or higher that has not received a bible, please contact Pastor Kristin.
Family Promise Training
Sunday, March 3 // 12:30 – 2 PM
We will be dedicating our new Family Promise Transitional Housing Program this Sunday, February 4, after service. For the past 10 years, we have supported Family Promise through the Rotational Shelter program where we provide for one week at a time shelter, meals and caring hospitality services to families currently experiencing homelessness.
Our first host week of 2024 will be March 17 – 24.  Interested but don’t quite know what it’s all about?  Join us after church on March 3rd from 12:30 – 1:30 PM in the fellowship hall for more information and training.  Current  volunteers are also encouraged to attend, get a refresh and maybe share a story or two. Refreshments will be provided.
Let’s celebrate being a part of this wonderful organization since opening its doors in Cobb County in 2014!
