East Cobb UMC is devoted to, “Going into the world to serve and share Jesus.”

We do this through a variety of mission partnerships in our community. Below you will find information about our partnerships and how you can serve alongside us.

A Chuch of Excellence

Since 2007, East Cobb UMC has been awarded the Church of Excellence in Mission award from the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

This award recognizes churches that support a variety of mission areas both locally and globally. Support comes through monetary offerings for Wesley Woods Senior Living, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Wellroot Family Services, and Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center.

The award also recognizes sustained mission partnerships. For East Cobb UMC, these include MUST Ministries, Powers Ferry Elementary School, Family Promise, Mountain TOP, and the Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor. The congregation also pledges to support a missionary and enter into a covenant relationship with that missionary.

MUST Ministries

Founded in 1971 by the Rev. Wayne Williams, MUST Ministries’ initial programs included a grocery bus ministry for the elderly, a youth tutoring program and outreach ministries to “alienated” young people. Since its inception, MUST has fulfilled Wayne’s vision of connecting people who have a desire to help with those who need help the most. Today, MUST encompasses more than 17,000 volunteers who are continually helping MUST Ministries achieve its goal of being Georgia’s most respected servant-leader.

ECUMC provides dinner once a month for the residents at the MUST Ministries HOPE House. Email Scott Shaver for more information on how you can serve!

ECUMC collects regular donations for the MUST Food Pantry.
